Enable browser notifications

Allow Substy notifications in your browser and recover when notification permission is blocked.

To receive browser notifications, allow Substy notifications in your browser and turn on the In-app channel in Notifications > Personal. Choose the events you want to receive there as well. Delivery also requires an active push subscription for that browser; permission alone does not guarantee delivery.

Allow notifications in your browser

  1. When your browser asks whether Substy can send notifications, select Allow.

  2. Open Notifications > Personal.

  3. Turn on the In-app channel.

  4. Choose the personal event preferences you want to receive.

Delivery channels in Notifications > Personal, showing the In-app switch enabled.

Allow notification permission separately in every browser and on every device where you want browser notifications. Availability depends on the browser and device you use.

If you blocked the permission request

  1. Open the notification permissions for Substy in your browser's site settings. On some devices, you may also need to open the device notification settings.

  2. Change the notification permission to Allow.

  3. Reload Substy, then confirm that In-app is on and review your event choices under Notifications > Personal.

Understand the notification settings

  • Browser permission controls whether that browser or device can display browser notifications.

  • The In-app channel under Notifications > Personal must be on for browser push notifications.

  • Personal event preferences control ordinary event alerts, with any creator-specific preferences applied. An automation that explicitly selects you as a recipient can notify you through enabled channels independently of those event choices.

If notifications still do not arrive

Check browser and device notification permissions, the In-app channel, and your event preferences, then reload Substy. If notifications still do not arrive, contact Substy support with your browser, device, and the event you expected. A missing or invalid push subscription can prevent delivery even when the visible settings are correct.
