Manage your Telegram connection and AI settings

Check your Telegram connection, replace the same bot’s token, and understand Stars-based Hybrid mode and automation limits.

3 min readUpdated September 10, 2026

After connecting your Telegram account, select the correct creator before changing settings. Telegram has its own reply rules and Stars-based controls: settings for OnlyFans or Fanvue do not necessarily apply.

This guide uses the English interface labels. You need creator-management permission to manage the connection and the appropriate AI-settings permission to change AI behavior.

Check the connection or replace a token

  1. With the Telegram creator selected, open Creator Info and find Telegram connection.
  2. Select Check connection to retrieve the current status. An active connection does not guarantee that every conversation is open for replies.
  3. To replace an expired or revoked token, select Update bot token. Enter the replacement in Replacement bot token, then select Update token. Use a new token for the same bot, not a token from a different bot.

Keep the token private. Leave Replace this bot’s existing integration, if any unchecked unless you intend to stop another service using that bot.

Disconnect opens a confirmation dialog. Read it before choosing Disconnect Telegram: Substy will stop managing the bot. Do not disconnect merely to refresh its status.

Understand Telegram Hybrid mode

Hybrid mode divides fans between the AI and your team according to a purchase threshold. It is not a price limit for individual paid messages.

In Configure Telegram hybrid mode:

  1. Under AI handles fans whose purchases represent, choose a comparison:
    • Less than: below the threshold, excluding the threshold itself.
    • Up to: below or equal to the threshold.
    • Exactly: equal to the threshold.
    • At least: equal to or above the threshold.
    • More than: above the threshold, excluding the threshold itself.
  2. Enter Estimated revenue (USD) and check the exact Stars preview. The amount must correspond to at least one Star.
  3. Select Save revenue limit. Your team handles fans outside the rule.

The rule uses the exact Stars from confirmed purchases minus refunds. The USD value is an estimate, not the fan’s checkout cost or a guaranteed payout. Review the Stars preview rather than treating dollars and Stars as interchangeable.

Telegram automation limitations

Telegram automations support incoming-message and PPV-purchase triggers. Subscription-lifecycle, online-status and birthday triggers are not supported. Automation access also depends on your agency’s plan.

Do not reuse another platform’s conditions for subscription history, online status, monetary spending or tips, platform lists, media views, fan read receipts or verified-creator status. Telegram does not support those automation filters or actions. The Stars-based Hybrid rule above is separate from these unsupported monetary automation filters.

Permissions and reply access

In Telegram’s Chat Automation, keep the bot enabled and allow replies under Manage Messages. Marking a conversation as read requires the separate mark-as-read right as well as an eligible conversation. Deleting messages has its own permissions; reply permission alone does not authorize every deletion.

Do not grant unrelated profile, story or gift-management permissions just to troubleshoot replies. See Telegram messages, media and Stars for reply-window and upload limitations.
