Test a conversation in AI Playground
Start a freeform test conversation or use an eligible Script or Solo Bundle, send test fan messages, and identify actions that change live settings.
Use AI Playground to test how a creator's AI responds. You can test an eligible Script or Solo Bundle, or start a freeform conversation without either when that option is offered. Creating one saves a new Playground session.
Before you start
-
You need permission to view AI settings to open Playground, and permission to edit AI settings to create, change, or send in a Playground. Ask an owner or administrator if an action is unavailable.
-
To list Scripts and Solo Bundles, you also need permission to view Scripts. To import a live fan, you need permission to view fans.
-
To test a sales sequence, prepare either an enabled AI-controlled Script with media and no linked fan list, or an enabled, non-Giftable Solo Bundle with at least one tagged media item. These are not required for a freeform conversation.
Create the Playground
-
Select the creator whose setup you want to test. Open AI, then choose Playground.
-
Choose Quick create when offered to start with an eligible Script or Solo bundle ladder and a blank fan. If no source is ready and Start a conversation is offered, choose it for a freeform test. In an existing workspace, New playground creates a session directly, using an eligible source when available or freeform otherwise.
If you arrive from Get Started with no existing Playground sessions for that creator, Substy can create the first conversation automatically. If the screen instead says Your script isn’t ready yet, follow its checklist and choose Finish this script.
Personalize a Playground
With the creator selected in the top bar, choose Personalize… when offered, or open the menu next to New playground and choose Personalize…. This opens the setup flow rather than creating a session immediately.
-
Check that the dialog names the creator whose setup you want to test.
-
In Script, select an eligible Script or Solo bundle ladder.
-
In Fan, keep Blank fan or preview a live fan and choose Use this fan. Selecting the fan's row alone does not import it, and importing a fan does not change the live fan record.
-
In AI settings, review the voice persona, transition timing, and emoji settings.
-
Choose Create & open.
Send a test conversation
-
Type a fan message. Press Enter or choose Send. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
-
Wait for the AI reply. Send is unavailable while the current reply is being generated.
-
If paid media appears, choose Buy this media to simulate an unlock inside the Playground. This does not create a real purchase.
Know which actions change live settings
Test chat and simulated purchases stay in the Playground. Edits saved to the Playground also stay with that Playground.
Explicit Apply and Save actions can change live settings. Apply to my Creator changes the live creator profile. Apply to my settings changes the live AI settings. Save to my personas creates a saved persona. In a custom-persona editor, Apply to production changes that persona wherever it is used. Review the confirmation before continuing.
If you get stuck
-
No eligible Script or Next is unavailable: the personalized setup needs an eligible option on the current step. For a freeform test, use Start a conversation when offered instead. If Substy shows the nearest Script, follow its missing requirements or choose Finish this script. For a Solo Bundle, check that it is enabled, not Giftable, and has tagged media.
-
Send is unavailable: wait for the current AI reply to finish, then try again.
-
You get a permission error: ask an owner or administrator for permission to edit AI settings. Applying profile changes to the live creator also requires permission to manage creators.
-
Another operation is already in progress for this playground: wait for the current action to finish, then retry.
-
Rate limit exceeded: sending also has a separate limit of 30 requests per minute for your account within the agency. Wait for that window to reset before retrying.
-
You reach a generation limit: the message identifies whether the limit is for this Playground, your account, or the agency. Limits reset after 5 minutes for 30 requests in one Playground, after 1 hour for 240 account requests, or after 1 day for 5,000 agency requests. Wait for the named window to reset before retrying.
